Coyote sighting north of Lincoln Park

They’re by no means rare, but when coyote sightings are brought to our attention, we pass them along as a reminder that you’ll want to make sure your pets are inside, etc. Just got a call from Pam, who lives along lower Lincoln Park Way, north of Lincoln Park, east of Lowman Beach (vicinity map), and says a coyote’s been hanging around behind her house for going on an hour now, so she wanted to make sure others got the word. (Past coyote reports, some with photos, are archived here.)

I live in this neighborhood and haven’t seen the coyote yet. But I’ll be keeping my 2 cats inside for a while.

I’ve seen them above the tennis courts over there.

A wonderful cat in our 52nd and Stevens neighborhood, was caught and killed by a coyote in the cats “very own” yard recently, when his owner put him outside early one morning! His owners were absolutely sick about this loss. It is a good reminder to all of us about being more careful with our pets.

Prior to this loss of Artie the cat, I had noticed a lot more posters around about “missing cats”.

Thanks to you owners who post this info. It should be a hint to the rest of us to be more diligent against these wild dogs!!

On Sept. 3rd we noticed that an animal had bedded down in our petunias near our cat door which we lock at night. Later we found coyote scat and tracks on our property. We have decided to keep our 2 cats indoor. 5900 block Beach Drive
