West Seattle 4th of July: Fireworks view after all!
July 5, 2009 at 3:46 am | In Holidays, West Seattle news | 6 Comments
Even without Elliott Bay fireworks, the 4th of July view from parts of West Seattle turned out to be splendid anyway. Thanks to Gilbert for sending these photos of the Lake Union fireworks show as seen from Hamilton Viewpoint.

Yes! The show was great!!! I was shocked how well we could see it from over here in West Seattle!!! Chase family 4th was lovely!

I believe that they were higher this year. We are at the top of othello and Highland park way, watched both shows for the last few years and we always talked about how most of the show was too low therefore blocked by the city buildings. Well, that was different this year. We saw the majority of the show and were totally satisfied. Maybe its possible that Chase decided to go a little higher for us saddened by the shut down of Ivars?

I’m sure the WAMU employees that were laid off were less than happy to see their salaries go up in the air.

I thought it was higher as well – we could see it from across Puget Sound!

I found out that Chase was actually contractually obligated to put on the show. It was originally done by WAMU and when Chase took them over they were responsible for honoring the contract. That said, it’s not Chase’s MO to do this sort of thing so don’t hold your breath that it will happen next year.
