 |   Not WS but we're mentioning it anyway | Transportation

The SDOT pre-weekend roundups of where you’ll run into road closures etc. around the city have proven to be a popular feature, even if there’s nothing West Seattle-specific; just got the latest one this morning, so read on to see where to find the fun and/or where to avoid:

The coming weekend, Friday through Sunday, July 31 – August
2, offers up a wide variety of entertainment including three parades,
festivals, hydroplane races and fireworks. Motorists should count on
heavy traffic surrounding event sites and on parking at a distance and
walking to the activities. The Seattle Department of Transportation
(SDOT) encourages event-goers to consider other modes of travel such as
walking, cycling or taking the bus.

The Chevrolet Cup at Seafair and KeyBank Air Show presented by Boeing
(including concert and fireworks) will make it easier for participants
to leave the car at home by providing secure bike corrals on site and
shuttle buses from the Boeing lot in Renton and the Eastgate Park and
Ride to the Genessee Park entrance gate. Light Rail riders can travel to
the Othello Station at 42nd Avenue and Myrtle Street and walk the mile
to the park. Information on Seafair shuttles is available at
www.seafair.com/events/hydro/getthere.asp . Please note that street
