He’s big, he’s green, he’s … stolen: Be on the lookout

halloweendecs.jpg

He’s been on our Holidays page – and now sadly we have word that this inflatable “Boogie” (from “Nightmare Before Christmas”) is in the hands of thieves. Brian just e-mailed:

Unfortunately within the last 90 minutes, somebody came in our front yard near 42nd and Andover and stole him. We are checking with our neighbors to see if they saw anything or captured any footage on their security cameras.

Please send a message out to the wonderful people in West Seattle letting them know to be on the lookout for Boogie and alert the blog if they see him. And for those that may be reading this and know
anything about this, returning Boogie back to our front porch would be the right thing to do.

Tracy, You Rock! Thanks for getting this up!

We hope it was just some kids pulling a prank however we have 2 sad little kids that went to sleep crying because someone took their “Big Green Guy.”

Oogie Boogie has been a fixture in our front yard for some time for Halloween and we just want him back.

Oh man, that really stinks! Sorry to hear that!

Oh no! We didn’t see/hear anything, but will definitely keep an eye out. I know two more little ones who will be super disappointed to see that their pal Oogie has gone missing. (We stop in front of the house every day and wave to him.) How truly unfortunate that people decide it’s somehow OK to just help themselves like that. Hope someone grows a conscience and returns your property, soon.

Oh no, guys! We didn’t see/hear anything, but will certainly keep an eye out. I know two more little ones who will be super disappointed that their pal Oogie has gone missing. (We stop by the house every day, usually on our way back from school, and wave to him.) How truly unfortunate that someone felt it OK to help themselves to the property of another like that. I hope they grow a conscience and decide to return him, soon!

It is awful when someone steals but so much worse when it’s sentimental. I know how much the kids love Oogie Boogie and it breaks my heart to think of them going to sleep crying. Karma… I hope this comes back to bite whoever did this… and I hope Oogie Boogie finds his way home.

Oops. Sorry for the double comment! Wasn’t showing up the first time.

Karma will get them – prank or not.

Have you also checked with the skeletons. They have a look of mischief, and could have possibly set the Oogie Boogie man loose for a walk around West Seattle.

Hey guys, it’s me. Sorry I had to leave so suddenly – the rain and clouds just get to me once in a while you know? Don’t worry, I am fine down in Cabo, just getting some sun, drinking some tequila and checking out the senioritas. My flight gets back Wed 11/5 at 4:20 if you could pick me up that would be great.

If it’s you, Oogie, you better scan a picture so we know you’re not a fraudster…

Knowing how upsetting it is, I feel it necessary to say that the comment posted by “Oogie” is completely heartless. Only someone that has a total lack of empathy would find it humorous to make light of a situation in which two beautiful children are coping with this “tragedy”. My sincere hope is that the thief grow a conscience and return Oogie. What a cruel event this is … its appalling that people can stoop so low … both in the theft, as well as the insensitive post.

T-Rex, I am reminded of a great line from STRIPES:

    “Lighten up Francis.”

Now, if you’ll excuse me, my carne asada has arrived. Arriba!

    See you next week amigos!

Sorry, comment time is over.
