Not sure if this has gone wide yet, since County Executive Ron Sims announced via Twitter (where we are one of only 45 “followers”) that he had posted it on his blog (not sure if that’s hit critical mass yet either): He’s recommending that bus fares go up a quarter this year, another quarter in 2010. ADDED LATER: West Seattle’s County Councilmember Dow Constantine chairs the council’s Transportation Committee; here’s his official comment:

Executive Sims has put forward an interesting proposal. Many questions remain to be answered about how to ensure adequate funding for bus service in King County. The King County Council will consider every option before any action is taken. We do not want to be put in the position of making dramatic cuts to existing service or delaying major improvements called for by voters when they approved the 2006 Transit Now ballot issue.
