That’s not the only WS connection. I personally met with and corresponed with Rebecca Griego last year when I was inquiring about UWs Masters in Corp Real Estate. Although I barely knew her, it was stunning. It seems like she did everything she could do short of arming herself to stop her nut job ex. Sad that it ended this way…

It is a terrible shame. Unfortunately, it goes to show that sometimes laws and law enforcement cannot protect you. The guy was hellbent on doing her harm and all the news can talk about was that they were trying to find him to serve the restraining order.

At a recent workplace violence training session I attended, our corporate security guy was pretty adamant in his assertion that sometimes getting a restraining order is the worst thing to do as they can be ineffective and enrage the abuser even more. Don’t know what else one can do though. I am sure if she had armed herself that 1) it would be against UW rules, and 2) she probably would not have acted fast enought anyway.

It just goes to show that some people aren’t going to care about breaking some laws (restraining orders, gun regulations) when they are planning on committing a crime they would be looking at life in jail or a death sentence for.

It’s just a shame all the way around.

So it turns out the guy was an illegal alien. And it turns out he was wanted by INS. He was pulled over by SPD on a DUI, but they didn’t know he was illegal and wanted. Why? Oh, immigration isn’t the job of local law enforcement.

So thanks to our wonderful city policies, a life was lost.

It’s time for local law enforcement to stop selectively enforcing laws. This is another example of how illegal aliens are not all here to just do the “work that Americans won’t do”. They show a lack of respect for our laws by breaking them to come here and it doesn’t end at that, apparently.

Just heard on the radio that the police-at least the Seattle police-are not ALLOWED to ask about residence-or if a person has a valid visa aor green card etc.Not sure if this is a police department policy or a city or state law.Whatever it is it should be looked at again!

This is your city government’s laws and general attitude….

sample here and here and probably many more places… just google City of Seattle immagration status.

This is the kind of crap our leaders are pulling instead of fixing potholes and schools.

Why make a bad connection to West Seattle on this.

Sorry, comment time is over.
